【摘要】:Hydrazineisaman-madechemicalandisnotfoundinnaturalwaters.Thedeterminationofhydrazineisusuallymadeonboilerfeedwaters,processwaters,andotherwatersthathavebeentreatedwithhydrazine(N2H4)forthepurposeofmaintainingresidualstopreventcorrosionbydissolvedoxygen.Thisreducingchemicalreactswithdissolvedoxygentoformnitrogenandwater.However,undercertainconditionsitcanalsodecomposetoformammoniaandnitrogen.Hydrazineisusedextensivelyasapreboilertreatmentchemicalforhigh-pressureboilerstoscavengesmallamountsofdissolvedoxygenthatarenotremovedbymechanicalaeration.Ithastheadvantageoversulfitetreatmentinthatitdoesnotproduceanydissolvedsolidsintheboilerwater.Hydrazineisoftendeterminedinconcentrationsbelow0.1mg/L.However,inlayupsolutionsfortheprotectionofidleboilers,hydrazinemaybepresentinconcentrationsashighas200mg/L.Additionally,hydrazineprovidesprotectionwherereducingconditionsarerequired,particularlyinmixedmetallurgysystemsfortheprotectionofthecopperalloys.Hydrazineisasuspectedcarcinogenandathresholdlimitvalueintheatmosphereof1.0mg/LhasbeensetbyOSHA.Wheninanaqueoussolution,hydrazinewilloxidizetonitrogenandwaterinthepresenceofairoverarelativelyshortperiodoftime.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthecolorimetricdeterminationofhydrazineinboilerfeedwaters,condensates,natural,andwellwatersthathavebeentreatedwithhydrazine(N2H4).Thistestmethodisusableintherangefrom5.0to200g/L(ppb)hydrazine.Therangeisforphotometricmeasurementsmadeat458nmin50mmcell.Higherconcentrationsofhydrazinecanalsobedeterminedbytakingamoredilutedsample.1.2Itistheusers''responsibilitytoensurethevalidityofthistestmethodforuntestedtypesofwaters.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,see5.3,Note1,andFootnote8.
